Hanjuku - The Kanzan Valley
I took a player's backstory and spun some legend and world lore out of it. There might be some changes, as I do need to make sure it's vetted. Enjoy anyway. The Shizumi clan resides in the Kanzan Valley, where a cherry blossom orchard is tucked away in the mountains, hidden from view. While they participate and interact with their neighbors in the lands near the valley, these Shereki hold many secrets close to their chest. The main one being that the spirit of the cherry blossom orchard, Kodama Kanzan, is a kami that is not only active, but fully sentient and willing to converse with mortals. Long ago, the renowned hero Yoshitsune Kurogane stumbled upon a hidden valley, where a demon held captive many kami, forcing them to do horrible things, wielding them as weapons. The fight was long, and at the end, the demon was slain and Yoshitsune was left defenseless, prone, and dying on the ground as the captive kami fled, no longer restrained. One spirit, the spirit of a lone cherry

Hanjuku Lore - The War of Dragon's Roar
I'm writing lore for my D&D campaign for Nanowrimo. Have a story about a brave tu'ren (rabbit person) and a massive world serpent from Philippine folklore. In the early days of Hanjuku, the nights were full of fear. During the day, the mortal forces were able to put up a fight against the demons, but at night, in the darkness, demons were empowered and ran rampant. The people held a great feast to beseech the Celestial Emperor to intercede on their behalf. Agreeing that something needed to be done, the Emperor took a white peach that was on his plate for desert and with a mighty throw, tossed it into the sky. As it flew, it grew and grew, until it could be seen all over the land. The peach shone light at night and its purity weakened the demons, so that while they were more capable than the people at night, the difference in power was not so great and Hanjuku could be defended. For years, this was sufficent, and the land knew peace and prosperity, until the coming of the world

Hey, remember the YCHRPG thing? I sure do! Sorry I haven't done anything with it. As soon as I posted it, a new player joined my IRL D&D table, and I spent a week figuring out how to work his character into the existing world. That took a lot of creative energy. And then, I finally found a job and that's taken a lot of my mind focus. As that settles, I'll (hopefully) be able to focus on content creation a lot more solidly. Thank you for your patience (although patience and a lack of confidence look similar in this case.)
As a promotion to opening his new shop in Port Lore, Matt has brought in a wish granting machine! I'll be running a comic where wishes are being granted, and, presumably, the world is going to get more and more chaotic. (I ran a D&D game where players were able to do this. It's been a few years and I'm jonesing for the experience again.) However, there are some caveats to wishes granted Wishes need to have a character of yours who is making the wish. I'm granting these wishes in the Modworld, as part of a story. If you don't have a character, well, mention that and I can make some sort of avatar to represent you in this probably crazy experience. At the moment, it's one wish per OC. Not sure what happens when a character tries to make a 2nd wish... I'm not going to grant wishes that reference a character from a franchise or property. The more vague a wish is, the easier it is for me to work the wish into the story There are some wishes that I won't allow, things that render the
So, we're part way through the month. I've been having a blast with the pageant, playing with watercolor and ink. Project Comment Control has also been interesting. Not quite successful, but I can see myself doing it more. But, the main thing I want to talk about is the Shadow Pageant. I got the first week's data, and I realized that while I could show the results, it's not going to mean anything without all of the results. So I'm going to wait, and run more analytics on the data. Also, Gem has decided (rightly) to not reveal what any of the vote results until the end of the event. We're doing this for a few reasons. When there's visible votes, a few things tend to happen. People who don't get many votes get discouraged, and don't participate People who get a lot of votes get either cocky or discouraged, and don't participate People who really really want to win make it not very fun to run the event in a handful of ways We want events like this to be fun and casual. We want people
Hey Matt, about the OCT brawl. One of my friends by the username of Firebringerr314 wants to join in the place of Ghost 2. Is it ok if they do that? They're not already involved in the competition.
